Description


The Libyan Academy was established in 1988 under the name: (Graduate Institute of Economic Sciences), in Tripoli–Libya, and began to practice its activity in the field of Graduate Studies in the fall of the year (1989) with only three scientific departments, namely: (Accounting, Management and organization, economics), and in the year (1995) Decision No. 996 was issued to establish the name (Academy of graduate studies), the decision included the determination of the scientific degrees granted by the academy to its graduates, namely: Graduate Diploma, Higher Degree (Master), and the decision also stipulated that the academy should teach all specialties according to the available capabilities. The Academy has expanded during the previous years until it reached (8) Scientific schools, namely:

  1. School of Administrative and financial Sciences.
  2. School of Humanities.
  3. School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
  4. Language school.
  5. School of Science and Arts.
  6. School of Strategic and International Studies.
  7. School of Basic Sciences.
  8. School of Medical Sciences

With the issuance of the Council of ministers Resolution No. 167 of 2012, the name of the Academy of graduate studies was changed to the name of the Libyan Academy, and its subordination to the Ministry of higher education and scientific research was confirmed.
